Cerebral Palsy Scotland Scotland conference 2021

In this Blog I am going to share my experience last year's Cerebral Palsy Scotland conference.

Cerebral Palsy Scotland is a charity which supports children and adults with Cerebral Palsy. This is mainly through therapy.
For eighth years now, Cerebral Palsy Scotland has been hosting an annual conference. This happens every October. The conference involves a lot of speakers and it allows people with Cerebral Palsy or parents/carers to come together and get information, find out what is out there and share experiences. This is really good for the CP Community because when you have a Disability like Cerebral Palsy, it is great to have these events to go   to get information, to share your experiences and just meet new people. And when you have a Disability like Cerebral Palsy, it is always good to know that you are not alone.
The last two conferences were held online because of covid.

It was back at the start of summer 2021 when I received an email saying that Cerebral Palsy Scotland was looking for speakers for the conference this year. So, I decided that I wanted to speak at the conference on behalf of TAG and put myself forward.
CP Scotland very kindly accepted my offer and put me on as a guest speaker for one of the workshops. It went really well.
In my presentation I talked about what TAG is, what we do and how TAG has helped me over the years.
For the presentation itself, TAG helped me to write my speech and to make up my power point. The conference was on a Thursday and I usually don't have support on a Thursday, but TAG paid for me to get extra support on that day so I could attend. I am very grateful for their help which enabled me to give my presentation at the Cerebral Palsy Scotland conference.

As a campaigner, it is really important for me to be able to give presentation like this. It helps me to get my word out there and it helps more people to be aware of the issues that we face as disabled people. This was also really good for TAG. TAG is a small charity and even although we have over 500 members, not everyone has heard of us. After I delivered my presentment, TAG got quite a few more followers on our social media. And I got some lovely feedback about the workshop.
