Useful Organisations

Here are some organisations that have supported me or are connected to issues that are important to me.

TAG (The Advisory Group)
TAG is a disabled people's organisation that works to ensure disabled people have a stronger voice in their communities and in the services they use. I have been involved with TAG for a number of years and have written blogs for the organisation.

Now Hear Me
Now Hear Me is a website that raises awareness of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). It provides information and resources for AAC users, families, professionals and the general public. I have contributed a blog to the website and was also a keynote speaker at the programme's celebration event.

Cerebral Palsy Scotland

Cerebral Palsy Scotland provides specialist support, therapy and information for people with cerebral palsy and their families. I previously worked for the organisation and have written blogs for them.

Pamis
PAMIS (Promoting A More Inclusive Society) supports people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and leads the Changing Places toilet campaign in Scotland. As a Changing Places campaigner myself, their work is particularly important to me.

Enable
ENABLE supports disabled people across Scotland to achieve their goals, access opportunities and find employment. Their services help people build confidence, develop skills and live more independently.

Ability Today CIC

Ability Today CIC is a UK-based not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to empowering disabled

People through education, media and employment opportunities. Founded by Grant Logan, the organisation provides accessible training programmes and resources designed to break down barriers and create real career opportunities.

Its flagship initiative, the Academy for Disabled Journalists (ADJ), delivered in partnership with the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), offers industry-recognised qualifications and has supported more than 100 disabled students into journalism and media roles. Many alumni have gone on to work with organisations including the BBC, ITV and Newsquest, helping to improve disability representation across the industry.

Ability Today is committed to ensuring disabled voices are heard, valued and represented, creating opportunities and driving lasting change in the media landscape and beyond.

I am currently studying the Certificate in Foundation Journalism with Ability Today and have found the course both fascinating and inspiring. It has helped me develop my writing skills and build my confidence as a journalist.
