Communication Blog

In this Blog I am going to talk about communication.  I feel strongly about communication.

Everyone may not realize it, but communication is a big part our everyday lives. From saying good morning to somebody to saying good night to someone and all between. Communication is important in our family, with our friends, in our workplace\school. Let’s face it, the world couldn't go on if we didn't communicate with each other. So communication is really important to everyone and everything.

Like I have said before, communication is important to everyone but especially for disabled people. For a lot of disabled people communication can be difficult because they haven't the ability to communicate in the same way as others. That doesn’t mean that communication isn’t important to disabled people because if someone can't verbally communicate it doesn't mean that they haven't anything to say!

Due to my Disability I haven't got any speech but a lot of people who reading this Blog know that it doesn't stop me one bit. But for readers who don't know me, let me explain. I use a communication device to communicate with the world. Using a Communication device isn't the same as speaking through the mouth. Using a Communication device is slower, but I do manage (more than manage). I can't speak on my own and require a Communication device and there are a lot of barriers which comes with this. Some people don't want to talk me or don't give me enough time to talk. However, I have always overcome this by doing a lot of speeches and campaigning.

If you think about it, there are a lot of ways of communicating. Speaking through your mouth isn't just the way to communicating. There are so many ways like using a Communication device, using sign language, symbols. Even using internet, email, social media and texting is all communication. Always remember, even although if someone doesn't have an ability to talk it doesn't mean that they have nothing to say!

Everyone has the Right to speak and everyone needs to know how to communicate with each other. So, my advice would be  that no matter who are talking to, please take time to talk to them and give the person enough time to talk to you too, especially if they have a different way of communicating from you. Just remember, everyone has something to say, but they might not show it. As I said before the world couldn't go round without communication!
