I just
arrived back from Florida last Saturday
with my Mum and Dad. On a whole the
holiday was really good apart from when it came to toilets. Apart from the
parks and a couple of shopping centres there are very few separate disabled
toilets. As I need to be lifted and my
Mum finds it difficult to do herself now we needed to have my Dad to help. That proved quite difficult when the
disabled cubicle was inside the ladies or the gents. At the end of the holiday
we went to the airport to come home which is a new airport and it is very nice.
At the departure gate I spotted the changing places sign and as you can imagine
I was very excited to see it for the first time in America. We went in and came
out very deflated. Although the toilet is huge there is no hoist despite having
the changing places sign with the hoist on it on the outside. Also the changing
bed was out of order. We are all led to believe that everything is bigger and
better in America might be the case for a lot of things but definitely not when
it comes to disabled toilets. If anyone is planning a holiday to America with a
disabled relative please be aware of these things. Despite all of the above we
had a great time.
